Why Michael (Mike) Ingledew
Not only am I passionate about technical communication, I am passionate about training in an enthusiastic and fun way. Let’s be honest, tech docs is not the most inspiring of topics but it does not need to be dull, dry and boring – I like bringing a subject, regardless of how dry, to life through animated examples and stories from my years of supporting clients.
Originally starting my career in the Uk Military as a vehicle operator and maintainer, I qualified as an aircraft engineer in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. My main role was maintaining the British Army’s Lynx and Gazelle (with a few others I can’t mention) helicopters.
After my career in the Army, I formally trained as a technical communicator and moved in to technical communication on major defence contracts. I was head-hunted into numerous roles, one including the first ever implementation of the first ever IETP solution on a civil jet.
I have had numerous project management, senior manager and consultancy roles, ending my ’employed’ career with Boeing Commercial Aircraft, where my tasks included supporting clients worldwide in the adoption of structured languages including standards and specifications.
I identified a gap in the market for an organisation like Technical Documentation World and left my full-time employment to focus on TDW full-time.
My day-to-day tasks involve consultancy, training and advising clients on how best to attack their business challenges.
